£200m Makeover for Derelict York Site

by Paul Addison on March 26, 2019 No comments

A former nine-acre gasworks site in York, now derelict, is anticipated to undergo a £200 million Gross Development Value, (GDV), transformation to a 700-dwelling neighbourhood.

To construct the scheme, North Star have partnered with private rental housing operator Moda Living and its joint venture partner Apache Capital Partners.

The brownfield site has been vacant for 10 years and is anticipated to be transformed into a new residential community, with retail space and community use, (subject to planning consent).

By adding public realm, new pedestrian links and cycle links, the masterplan aims to re-join the already surrounding neighbourhoods

  • 450 homes for rent will be owned and operated my Moda.
  • 260 homes are being developed for sale by North Star.

Tony Brooks, managing director at Moda, said:

“We look forward to contributing to York’s future heritage by providing high-quality homes for rent within the wider regeneration of a derelict and neglected site.”

The MyModa app will be available to the residents at Heworth Green as a digital door key and to pay bills online.
