With the aim of accelerating the delivery of more than 155,000 new homes in proposed garden towns throughout England, Sajid Javid, the community’s secretary, has revealed a £2.5 million cash addition.
Accelerating the large housing projects will be achieved by granting new funding to 9 garden town developments over the UK.
Local authorities and communities should be backed to deliver garden town proposals;
“speeding up the process of developments through additional dedicated resources and expertise”.
The 9 elected garden towns are:
- Bicester,
- Didcot,
- Basingstoke,
- Otterpool Park (in Kent),
- Aylesbury,
- Taunton,
- Harlow-Gilston,
- North Northamptonshire,
- North Essex.
Sajid Javid has said:
“Locally led garden towns have enormous potential to deliver the homes that communities need. This new funding will help support the construction of more than 155,000 homes in nine places across the country. New communities not only deliver homes, but also bring new jobs and facilities and a big boost to local economies.”
