For producing the masterplan to set the framework for the regeneration of Old Oak and Park Royal in West London, AECOM, a planning and infrastructure company have been confirmed as the chosen bidder.
There were seven shortlisted bids that AECOM resulted in being chosen form.
The quality and sustainability goals displayed in the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation draft local plan, should be mirrored in the masterplan.
For effective, longstanding place-making in Old Oak, new benchmarks should be recognized from the masterplan.
The masterplan ought to advise Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation planning policy.
Per a statement from the Greater London Authority, landowners, investors and stakeholders will all have greater certainty on how and when the area will be developed due to the contract.
Additionally, this in theory, will allow for the development of clear strategies for delivery, funding and financing, land assembly and a business plan for Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation as a future landowner.
According to a timeline for development, the contract is anticipated to start in May/June 2017, with ‘preferred option refinement’ and ‘first draft strategies’ potentially being ready by early 2018.
By spring 2018, the final spatial masterplan is anticipated.
Old Oak and Park Royal could include the following:
- have an HS2 and Crossrail station by 2026,
- the power to produce 24,000 new homes,
- create 55,000 jobs
Full planning powers for the 650.hectare site has been awarded to the development corporation.
