Fracking consent loophole shut by Clark

A loophole in the consent regime for fracking has been shut by the government.

Operators wanting to frack must apply for a ‘Hydraulic Fracturing Consent from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy’ (DEBIS), under Section 4A of the Petroleum Act 1998.

As a supplementary stage to the regulatory and permitting regime, the consent was introduced in the Infrastructure Act 2015.

A bleak picture pained of planning resources following new poll

Evidence following from joint research, found that some 90% of local authorities believe the government’s housing targets will be impossible to meet due to a lack of planning resources.

The joint report, from the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) and the Local Government Information Unit (LGiU), was the first of its kind to gather information from the experience of both local authorities and SME house builders from across the UK.

Third-Party Search Agents Usage

The Property Ombudsman (TPO) have recently stated some concerns regarding four of the recent cases they have looked into. The issues are concerning the standards that are required of firms when using third-parties to help accumulate search reports.

The reason the announcement was made was to ensure that subscriber firms know that the search Code requirements apply to the use of third-parties.

Neighbourhood plan areas are experiencing an increase in new home approvals

In a recently published report it came to light that Clark has approved 2530 new homes in Neighbourhood plan areas by means of his recovery powers.

That is 2214 more than his predecessor. This rise has been since the 2015 General Election and came after the start of the temporary recovery powers by the Secretary of State.

Ipswich affordable housing scheme blocked by Clark due to ‘inclusivity’ matters

Ravenswood development is refused by the Communities Secretary on the foundation that it does not correspond with the national policy “to create inclusive and mixed communities…”

A proposal for 94 affordable flats and houses has been blocked by Communities Secretary Greg Clark, which was the opposite to what the inspector had suggested, leaving the council angry and confused.

A ‘U-turn in Stockton housing scheme causes “fury” in the Council

A 550 home development at Ingleby Barwick has been allowed outline proposals after the government reconsidered the appeal decision.

The leader of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council (Bob Cook), has badly responded to Greg Clark’s choice to give consent an appeal over outline proposals by the developer Tiviot Way Investments Ltd. this is for 550 new dwelling on an area of land located at Ingleby Barwick.

Brownfield Register
